Iron River man hurt in crash
CRYSTAL FALLS – An Iron River man was injured in a one-car crash in Iron County’s Bates Township early this morning.
Sgt. Wade Cross of the Iron County Sheriff’s Office said the Iron County Central Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 6:45 a.m. today reporting a single-vehicle crash on Sunset Shores Road in Bates Township.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office found where an east-bound vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Iron River man went out of control and crashed into a tree.
Neighbors in the area were alerted to the crash from the loud noise and dialed 911.
The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was taken by Northstar EMS to the Northstar Hospital in Iron River to receive treatment for facial and bone injuries.
Deputies believe that intoxication and speed played a direct role in the crash, Sgt. Cross said.
The driver’s name is being withheld pending blood evidence analysis and review by Iron County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Weston.
