KINGSFORD – Audrey Marie Rowell, 71, of Kingsford, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital.
She was born Sept. 27, 1941, in Aurora, Wis., daughter of the late Henry and Agnes (Neuens) Schneider. She attended the Kingsford schools, graduating from Kingsford High School in 1959.
Audrey married George Rowell Sr. on March 19, 1960, and together they spent more than 53 wonderful years. She worked as the health unit coordinator for Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for more than 34 years, retiring in 1998. She loved playing the penny machines at the casino, and in her early years she enjoyed knitting.
She was preceded in death by her son, David Rowell on May 1, 2005, and by an infant sister, Phyllis Schneider.
Audrey is survived by her loving husband, George Rowell Sr. of Kingsford; a son, George (Netta) Rowell Jr. of Norway; a daughter, Laurna (John Bednarz) Rowell of Iron Mountain; and brothers, Jerome “Louie” (Dara) Schneider of Texas, David (Bonnie) Schneider of Kingsford, and Bill (Phyllis) Schneider of Rochester, Minn.; four loved grandchildren, Kristin (Gerry) Martin, Amanda (Aaron Anziano) Rowell, Jessica (Tony) Body, and Dawn (Brad) Hazelwood; loving great-grandchildren, Eli, Luke, Mariah, Javon, Germiah, Trinity, Tyler, Abby, and Alyssa; God-daughter, Missy Schneider; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home in Kingsford.
The funeral service will follow Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
