Marjorie O’Neal

IRON MOUNTAIN – Marjorie L. O’Neal, 83, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, April. 2, 2013, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

Marjorie was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Notto and Alice (Woods) Battista. She was the salutatorian of Iron Mountain High School, class of 1949 and has been a resident of this area for most of her life.

Marjorie worked from 1976 to 1988 as a librarian for the Dickinson County Library.

She married Paul O’Neal on June 17, 1950, and he preceded her in death in February, 1985.

Marjorie was a member of the Dickinson County Hospital League and was a longtime volunteer at in the Audiology Department at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

She is survived by a nephew, many cousins and other relatives.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Marjorie was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Battista who was killed in action during World War II.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Immaculate Conception Church.
