Lloyd Lindbeck

MARQUETTE – Lloyd Peter “Pete” Lindbeck passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born Sept. 12, 1936, in Iron River, son of Peter and Valma (Prittinen) Lindbeck. He grew up in Bates Township, graduated from Bates School, and Iron River High School. Pete was well-known in high school for his abilities in both basketball and football, and also played basketball for McNeils Oilers after graduation.

He married Roberta Cummings of Athelstane, Wis., on Dec. 20, 1958. They made their home near family at Sunset Lake.

Pete worked for a few years as a municipal well driller for Lane-Northwest Co. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service in 1993, where he was employed as a forestry technician for 33 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and time with family.

Pete is survived by his wife, Roberta “Bobbie” Lindbeck of Iron River; daughters, Jan Frailing of Iron River, Jill (Ray) Koivunen of Crystal Falls, Eva (Ed) Rice of Crystal Falls, and Amy (Tom) Nicklin of Greenfield, Ind.; a son, Robert (Amy) Lindbeck of Munising; his sister, Luella Williams of Iron River; sister-in-law, B. Jean Lindbeck of Iron River; 17 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pete was preceded in death by his father, Peter Lindbeck; his mother, Valma Lindbeck; and a brother, Lionel Lindbeck.

Abiding by his wishes, there will be no formal services. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
