Winter bocce

NORWAY – Dickinson Area Bocce Association’s Winter League is once again enjoying the friendly confines of the Norway Covenant Church gymnasium.

No one considers them friendly more than Terry Calvi, Pat Verrette, Greg Sorenson and Cal Formolo as they again lead T. C. Terrors to the top of the league with 15 wins at the mid-point of the season.

Failing to capitalize on the chance at the lead or a tie was Bimbo’s Wine Press with Mike Constantini, Jim Snowdon, Ed Pilot and Gary Mainville.

Bunched up with nine wins are Papa Lou’s (Louie Stark, Merlin Nelson, Jack Froze and Lysle Rugg), Joe’s Team (Beth Molle, Joe, Gloria and Mike Massie) and Woodlands Motel (John Gaudette, Al Spigarelli, Bob Langsford and Bill Morrison).

Recovering from the retirement of veteran Ralph, the Izzo’s team is successfully adjusting their lineup as they swept all three games twice this year, keeping them in the hunt for a playoff spot. Watch for more exciting news as Mike and Teddy Izzo lead this new team forward.

A couple of good weeks is all it would take to get the Misfits of Brian and Yvonne Clark, Jackie Moser and Al Kallenbach back into mix of playoff contenders.

Finding home field not so friendly are Norway Covenant Pastor Jim Danielson and new players Bruce Olson, Spenser and Sam McCormick as they round out the field.

Super subs this year have been Lori Stark, Dona Spigarelli, Dave Antonetti, Gloria Snowdon, Beverly Gaudette and Hiv Porter.

Everyone is welcome to stop in for a visit from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday or any Sunday in April after the Easter break.
