KINGSFORD – Roy G. Johnson, 72, of Kingsford, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 12, 1940, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Gottfried and Agnes (Carlson) Johnson. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School with the Class of 1959 and went on to work for the Wisconsin Electric Power Co. for 37 years.
Roy was a member of Elks International, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and United Commercial Travelers, where he was a member for 53 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life. He also enjoyed going to camp to feed the deer and bear, and to play cards with his kids.
He married Elaine Richter on June 30, 1978, in Iron Mountain.
Roy is survived by his wife, Elaine; two sons, Russell (Micky) Johnson of Kingsford, and Nick (Dana) Johnson of Holt, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Darcy Kowalkowski of Niagara, Wis.; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery; and a stepdaughter, Wendy Bouche.
Roy will be missed by his morning buddies at Burger King and his dogs, Daisy and Ginger.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
