KINGSFORD – Joseph J. “Joe” Sementilli, 78, of Kingsford, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
He was born March 23, 1934, in Johnson City, N.Y., son of the late Pio and Adeline (LaPergola) Sementilli. Joe graduated from Johnson City High School in 1952, and was a veteran of the United States Army.
He married Jeannette Broullire on May 17, 1958, in Aurora, Wis. Joe was employed as a service manager for IBM for 35 years, retiring in 1993. Following his retirement, he and Jeannette moved to the area and he worked as a bartender in Niagara at Steeno’s Bar and the Country Bar.
He was a member of the Elks Club and attended American Martyrs Catholic Church. Joe was an avid Chicago Bears fan and followed the Tigers and Yankees as well.
He was a real people person and loved to socialize. Joe also enjoyed camping, boating, snowmobiling and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeannette; a sister, Angela (Joseph) David of Lakeland, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, William (Karen) Broullire of Aurora, Alice Kallenbach of Iron Mountain, Marie (Glenn) Windell of Aurora, Barbara (Robert) Beauchamp of Niagara, Wis., Eileen (Bruce) LaLiberte of Niagara, Raymond (Barbara) Broullire of Iron Mountain, and Gerard (Paula) Broullire of Niagara; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Delbert Kallenbach; and a sister-in-law, Emelie Zimmerman.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
