NORWAY – David Mason, 54, of Norway, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born Nov. 17, 1958, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Ruth Skoglund and Jerry Mason.
David graduated from Norway High School in 1977. He worked in construction as a carpenter for several years then worked for the former ISP, now SGI, in Pembine since 1985.
David found great satisfaction in the outdoors by hunting, fishing, and trapping. He also was an avid woodworker and was extremely skilled at turning trees into finished lumber. David’s woodworking, along with his friends helped him build a home for his family. His work ethic was an inspiration to all who knew and worked with him as he would never quit until the job was done.
David leaves his wife of 29 years, Mary (Gronowski); son, David (Maygen Alm) Mason Jr. of Norway; granddaughter, Rozalynn Mason; mother, Ruth (Jim) Skoglund; father, Jerry Mason of California; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
David was preceded in death by his infant son, Mark Mason; sister, Michelle Pohlson; and brother, Mark Mason.
Family will greet friends on Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Aaron Nowicki, seminarian of the Diocese of Marquette, officiating.
Interment will be held at the Norway Township Cemetery in the spring.
