KINGSFORD – Anna Reese Cecelia Mashak, 84, formerly of 1920 W. Sagola Ave. in Kingsford, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
Ann was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Louis “Red” and Alma (Larsen) St. Arnauld. She was a 1947 graduate of Iron Mountain High School and married Philip Mashak on July 5, 1948, in Iron Mountain. Ann and Phil raised their family in the home they built at 1920 W. Sagola Ave. in Kingsford. Phil preceded Ann in death on May 28, 2009.
Ann orked as a secretary for several local insurance agencies, retiring in 1969.
She was an active and faithful member of American Martyrs Catholic Church. She was also a member of St. Barbara’s Circle and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella. Ann expressed her faith and love of the church through her volunteer work with her circle and funeral luncheon ministry. She also volunteered at the Iron Mountain Veterans Administration Medical Center for many years. Ann was extremely proud and protective of her family, taking care of everyone was her number one priority. She was fondly referred to as “TE-TE” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Susan (Kurt) Johnston of Breitung Township.; brothers, Harold (Norma) St. Arnauld of Marquette, Donald St. Arnauld of Florida and Dick St. Arnauld of EauClaire, Wis.; sister-in-law, Beverly DesJardin of Niagara, Wis.; grandchildren, Dr. Shawn (Rachael) Johnston of Anchorage, Alaska, Kris (Debi) Johnston of Iron Mountain, Jamie Mashak of Sheboygan, Wis., Jessica (Sean) Blockland of Loveland, Ohio, Jodi Mashak of Clermont, Fla., and Brandy Mashak of Salt Lake City; and13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Phil, she was preceded in death by her sons, Mickey and Greg Mashak; her sister, June Peters; brothers, Bert and Bill St. Arnauld, and infant brothers, Curtis and Lee St. Arnauld; sisters-in-law, Laural St. Arnauld, Adeline St. Arnauld and Kay St. Arnauld; and brother-in-law, Robert “Bud” Peters.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
