Prosecutor issues February report
IRON MOUNTAIN – Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney Lisa M. Richards has released the following information for the month of February.
The prosecutor’s office received 82 police reports from the five area law enforcement agencies and Department of Natural Resources.
Out of the reports received, 39 misdemeanor arrest warrants were authorized and 19 felony warrants were issued.
Twenty warrant requests were reviewed and denied and one was resubmitted to the investigating agency with a request for further investigation. Eight warrants were issued for domestic violence and/or assault crimes, six warrants were authorized for alcohol-related offenses, 11 warrants were authorized for theft or property-related offenses, 11 warrants were authorized for drug-related offenses, 15 warrants were issued for various traffic-related offenses, two warrants were issued for failing to pay child support, one warrant was issued for indecent exposure, and one warrant was issued for violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act.
Three abuse and neglect petitions and five juvenile delinquency petitions were also drafted and submitted to the probate court by the prosecutor’s office.
The prosecutor’s office had 17 scheduled preliminary examinations and 11 defendants were bound over to the 41st Circuit Court for further proceedings.
Numerous bench trials, motion hearings, probation violation hearings, show cause hearings and other miscellaneous were conducted in the district, probate and circuit courts.
In addition, there were also five circuit court sentencing hearings, 20 circuit court arraignments and eight circuit court pre-trial conferences conducted.
