Teen apprehended after Facebook threat

WAKEFIELD – A 16-year-old Marenisco student was taken into custody today after the discovery of a threat on Facebook indicating violence to other students, police said.

Michigan State Police Wakefield Post personnel were contacted by the Wakefield-Marenisco School officials this morning in reference to a threat that had been discovered on a Facebook posting.

Police said the threats were made and posted by a 16-year-old student.

The threat indicated violence with a gun and was made toward other students who had been disciplined for bullying last week.

The student was met by the Michigan State Police and school staff and then taken into custody without incident.

The student was released to the Gogebic County Probate Court.

The student’s mother was contacted and met with school staff and probate court officials.
