Michigan girls basketball

IRON MOUNTAIN – Michigan girls basketball tournaments begin tonight with games scheduled throughout the area.

In Class B, Kingsford (16-4) hosts two games in District 64. The Flivvers battle Escanaba (4-16) first at 5 p.m., with Gladstone (10-10) and Menominee (9-10) to follow around 6:45 p.m. The winner of the Kingsford/Esky contest will host the winner of Gladstone/Menominee in the district final Wednesday evening.

In Class C, Iron Mountain (4-15) plays host to the District 95 tournament. The Mountaineers and Norway (10-9) kick things off Monday at 5:30 p.m. West Iron County (10-10) and Stephenson (9-9) follow around 7 p.m. Winners of those two contests will clash for the district title Wednesday at 6 p.m., again at IMHS.

Forest Park (19-1) is hosting Class D’s District 127 tournament. The Lady Trojans don’t play until Wednesday, hosting Ewen-Trout Creek (13-7) in a semifinal.

Monday’s contest pits Wakefield-Marenisco against Watersmeet (7-13) at 6 p.m. The winner of that game plays Bessemer at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the Lady Tojans contest to follow. The championship is slated for Friday at 6 p.m.

In Class D District 126, North Dickinson (5-15) opens at home against North Central (12-8), showing a 6 p.m. start time on Monday. The winner hosts Big Bay de Noc (4-15) Wednesday. The District 126 final will be played at either Mid Peninsula, Bark River-Harris or Carney-Nadeau on Friday at 6 p.m.
