Laona burglary case advances

CRANDON, Wis. – One of the two Florence, Wis. men accused of burglarizing the Laona Pharmacy has been bound over to the circuit court level.

Charles E. Hetzer, 27, is set for arraignment in Forest County Circuit Court on Feb. 20.

Hetzer and 26-year-old Sheldon L. Burkart each face one felony count of burglary to a building or dwelling, one felony count of criminal damage to property, and seven misdemeanor counts of theft of movable property.

Burkart is scheduled for an initial appearance in Forest County Court on Feb. 26.

In Florence County Court, Burkart is charged with several related felony and misdemeanor counts of drug possession. He will have a pre-trial on those charges on March 5.

Forest County Sheriff John Dennee reported the burglary occurred on Dec. 12 when a masked individual gained entrance to the Laona Pharmacy by breaking through a wall between the Laona Clinic and the pharmacy.

The individual then stole several bottles of narcotics, he added.
