IRON MOUNTAIN – Authorities have released the name of the Norway man arrested after a stabbing incident at the Continental Cup Ski Jumping Tournament at Pine Mountain on Sunday.

Prosecuting Attorney Lisa Richards said that Andrew Michael Bray, 74, of Norway, was charged with one count of assault with intent to murder and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.

The stabbing incident occurred at approximately 12:05 p.m. Sunday.

Two deputies patrolling the event were walking near the club house when the suspect approached them from behind and stabbed one of the deputies in the upper back.

The knife was knocked out of the suspect’s hands and he was subdued and taken into custody.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect had attended the event to target a deputy, although no deputy in particular was the target.

The deputy, Lieutenant Derek Dixon, was treated at the scene by Beacon Ambulance.

He continues to do his job duties with the department.

A preliminary examination is set for Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. at the Dickinson County Courthouse.

Bond has been set at $1 million.

Bray is being represented by attorney Dan Jaspen of Iron Mountain.
