Flivvers Parent, Winters on to regionals

NEGAUNEE – Kingsford’s Keaton Parent and Harley Winters wrestled to state individual regional berths in a MHSAA Division 3 district tournament Saturday.

Parent lost in the 125-pound district finals, absorbing a pin (3:12) to Gladstone’s Jared Syverson. Winters placed third in the 215-pound weight class.

“Parent had a very tough win gainst Kyle Schmidt from Grayling to make it to the finals,” Flivvers coach Torrey Adams said. “Harley Winters had a tough start to the day with a loss in the second round. But he rallied his way back to a third place finish notching three pins on his way to the podium.

“I was very pleased with how they both wrestled, they wrestled smart and strong and never quit until the match was done. They put together their best performances of the season when it mattered the most.”

Top four district wrestlers in each weight class advance to the regional Saturday at Kingsley.
