Nordics stopped

FELCH – Mid Peninsula, boosted by the return of 6-foot-1 center Krysta VanDamme, downed North Dickinson 71-39 in Skyline Conference girls basketball Thursday at Carl F. Lemin Gymnasium.

VanDamme tallied 18 points while Hunter Branstrom scored 20 and Megan Kayser had 19.

VanDamme (knee) did not play Monday when the Nordics defeated the Wolverines 60-48.

“Mid Pen’s size was really a factor both offensively and defensively,” Nordics coach Mike Roell said. “They really shut us down and we had trouble rebounding.

“Credit Mid Pen for playing a real good game. We had a rough night shooting and we have to put this one behind us.”

North Dickinson, outscored 37-14 in the second half, collected 12 points and nine rebounds from Miranda Jacobson. Elizabeth Charlevoix added 11 points.

North Dickinson won the junior varsity game 41-36.
