FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Edith A. Anderson, 91, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Monday morning, Jan. 28, 2013, at her home.

Private cremation rites have been held at Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove.

Interment will follow at the family plot at the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.

Edith Annette Anderson was born on Aug. 7, 1921, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Amilio and Helen (Zaupa) DeRossi. She was raised and received her education in the Iron Mountain community.

She was united in marriage to Isidore Gemo on March 23, 1942, in Crystal Falls. Following their marriage, they made their home in the community of Crystal Falls. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Isidore on Sept. 21, 1974, after celebrating over 31 years of marriage together.

On March 15, 1998, she was united in marriage to Gunnar Anderson in Newport Richey, Fla. Following their marriage, they made their home in Newport Richey for six months during the winter months, and Crystal Falls for six months during the summer months.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Gunnar in July 2011 after celebrating more than 13 years of marriage together. Following Gunnar’s passing, Edith moved to the Forest Grove community on Oct. 15, 2012, to reside with her granddaughter, Linda Stanich, and four great-grandchildren.

She worked as a maintenance engineer for the Forest Park School District in Crystal Falls for 17 years until her retirement at the age of 65.

Edith was a member of the Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church in New Port Richey, as well as a member of the Finnish American Club in New Port Richey.

Among her special interests, she enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading, doing crosswords and spending time with family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Amilio and Helen DeRossi; her son, Dennis Gemo; and her sister, Inez Osterberg.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Springer of Lockport, Ill.; and her brother, Valentino DeRossi of Iron Mountain.

Also surviving are her three grandchildren and their spouse, Linda Stanich, of Forest Grove; Sharon Springer of Mount Vernon, Ill., and Daniel and Kori Springer of Oak Forest, Ill.; her nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to their local Humane Society in Edith’s memory.
