IRON MOUNTAIN – Joyce M. Marcellis, 84, of Iron Mountain, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on May 16, 1928, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Gunnard and Ellen (Hassell) Anderson.
Joyce graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1946. She worked in the fabric department at J.C. Penney, as a cook at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, and as a chef at Hyland Nursing Home.
She was an active member of the Community Bible Chapel, where she sang in the choir. Joyce was a member of the Singing Strings and sang at the local nursing homes.
She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching baseball. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
Joyce is survived by two sons, Daniel (Anne) Marcellis of Beaufort, S.C., and Larry (Suzanne) Marcellis of Granite Falls, N.C.; six grandchildren, Jason Marcellis, Justin (Katie) Marcellis, Joshua (Vilay) Marcellis, Lindsay Marcellis, Eric Leitch, and Brian Leitch; one great-granddaughter, Mila Marcellis; and a son-in-law, Carl Vance.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Vance, and two sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Community Bible Chapel.
Funeral services will follow Wednesday at noon at the chapel. Rev. Lonnie Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
