Fred Constantini Jr.
IRON MOUNTAIN – Fred Constantini Jr., 92, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
He was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Crystal Falls, son of the late Fred and Helen (Kinsman) Constantini. Fred graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1938, and was a lifelong resident of the area.
He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II, serving from 1942-44. He was employed by WE Energies for 40 years, retiring in 1981. Fred was a member of the Paisano Club and also was an active member of First United Methodist Church where he served on the church council. He enjoyed having a porketta sandwich with skins and a beer at Bimbo’s. Fred was a loving son and took great care of his mother for many years.
He is survived by his twin brother, Jay (Doris) Constantini of Iron Mountain; a sister-in-law, June Constantini of Iron Mountain; two nieces, Debra Constantini (Alan Steinberg) and Paula Wiegele, both of Iron Mountain; one nephew, Michael (Jean) Constantini of Iron Mountain; a great-niece, Briana Wiegele and a great-nephew, Tyler Wiegele.
Fred was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Bimbo” Constantini and James (Florence) Constantini.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Walter Reichle will officiate.
Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military graveside honors.
Pallbearers will be Michael Constantini, Alan Steinberg, Craig Frendewey, Wilfred “Wish” Olson, Tyler Wiegele and Robert Olivanti.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Fred’s memory.
