Niagara man dies in crash

MARINETTE, Wis. – A Niagara, Wis., man died early Sunday in a one-vehicle traffic accident on County Highway N in the town of Niagara, said Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.

Killed in the crash was Shane R. Spade, 42.

According to Sauve, an eastbound pickup truck left the road shortly after 1 a.m. near County Highway 0, rolled over several times and hit a power pole. The driver was ejected and later pronounced dead at the scene by Marinette County Coroner George Smith.

There were no passengers.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, Sauve said.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Niagara Police, Niagara Volunteer Fire Department, Niagara Area Rescue Squad, Beacon Ambulance, Wisconsin Public Service and Coroner Smith.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and coroner.

The fatality is the first of 2013 in Marinette County.
