IRON MOUNTAIN – Ruby Miller, 105, of Iron Mountain and formerly of Morenci, Mich., passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain.
She was born Dec. 7, 1907 in Wright Township, the daughter of Loren and Cora (Stuck) Earick. On Aug. 18, 1930, in Napoleon, Ohio, she married Charles Blair Miller. He preceded her in death in February 1966.
Ruby was a graduate of Morenci High School, class of 1925. After graduation, she furthered her education at Davis Business College in Toledo, Ohio. She retired from the Morenci Schools in 1974, after 13 1/2 years of service. Ruby then started working as a secretary for the Wells Insurance Agency, retiring again in 1981 after seven years of service.
She has been a member of the Morenci United Methodist Church since 1925; life member of the Lenawee County Historical Society; life member of the MEA; life member of the National Retired Officers Association; member of the Morenci American Legion Auxiliary; and a member of the Lenawee County School Retirees.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane (Dean) Russell of Pinckney, and Lucy Ann (Ronald) Brown of Iron Mountain; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Devona and Rhonda; granddaughter-in-law, Betty; six great-grandchildren, Corey, Jay, Zackariah, Nathaniel, Myles and Gabrielle; two step-great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan; and two great-great-grandsons, Jackson and Charlie.
In addition to her husband, Blair, Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Mark; and sister, Alice Allen.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 26, in Morenci.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Morenci United Methodist Church.
