GFWC to meet Friday at Pine Grove
IRON MOUNTAIN – The GFWC will hold its monthly meeting on Friday, Feb. 1, at noon at the Pine Grove Country Club in Iron?Mountain.
“Bring a friend for a great program and delicious lunch,” says a GFWC spokesperson.
The speaker will be Mike Werner, a board member from the Almost Home Animal Shelter in our area. He will tell the group how contributions to the building of the new shelter have helped. He will also tell us the benefits of having a pet or adopting a pet. It is a proven fact that people who have a loving relationship with a pet live longer and happier lives.
The group has been donating the proceeds from the purse sales to the shelter.
Certificates will handed out to members participating in the ESO Reading project.
Reservations must be made by Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. If you are not contacted or would like to come as a guest call Pam King at 774-9638.
Reservations made after that time will be served a chef salad. The menu is salad, rolls, grilled chicken breast Alfredo, broccoli and chocolate caramel brownie for dessert. Alternate entree menu choices are chef salad or grilled cheese sandwich plate. The cost is $14.
Express tables are available if you will have to leave early. Be sure and tell your caller or indicate it on your e-mail reservation.
Everyone is asked to bring a food pantry donation and enter to win a prize.
Members are also reminded to keep reading and adding to your ESO book list. The club will continue the reading contest this coming year. “Keep your 2013 list and hand it in Jan. 1, 2014. The chairman will add in your 2012 list, a spokesperson added.

Members are also asked to wear red in honor of Women’s Heart Month and Valentine’s Day.
