Stephenson author highlights international mission work in book

STEPHENSON – Author Gabriella Louise Sheldon sets out to chronicle her experiences volunteering around the world as a Christian witness in her new nonfiction, “Dream Trekker: A glimpse into international volunteering” published by Inspiring Voices.

A unique combination of travelogue, memoir and social commentary, “Dream Trekker” documents seven volunteer outreaches that Sheldon took around the world, working both as her character, Greta the Clown, and a “regular” teacher serving in Poland, Mexico, Lithuania, the Caribbean and Ukraine.

Some pieces of Sheldon’s story were previously published in a literary journal and her local newspaper. She is hopeful that readers will gain insight into the hardships faced by people around the world and find themselves to do volunteering of their own.

“It will provide insight into the daily rigors, joys, and challenges of joining outreaches internationally,” Sheldon says of her book. “The reader will get a brief glimpse into different kinds of outreaches around the world.”

Gabriella Louise Sheldon grew up on a small dairy farm. She writes poetry, stories, memoirs and songs. She has taught at several universities and traveled to every continent except Antarctica, either as a tourist or as a volunteer. She lives in a rural environment where wild animals frequent her property.

At her church, Sheldon teaches Sunday school and serves as a deaconess. She is the author of “The Chronicles of Flora Johnson, Book 1: Flora’s Discovery,” “The Chronicles of Flora Johnson, Book 2, Flora’s Journey” and is co-author of “Bring Your Own Cup.”
