Kingsford cheer on top at Escanaba Invitational

ESCANABA – Kingsford, keyed by a successful third round, captured the Escanaba Invitational competitive cheer meet Saturday.

The Flivvers tallied 668.66 in Division 2-3, beating Escanaba, 668.16, and Gladstone, 643.04.

“We had our best round three of the year which put us on top,” Flivver coach Sara Pericolosi said. “It was a great moment for our team.”

Escanaba held a 409.8 to 394.1 lead over Kingsford entering the third round. The Flivvers turned things around in round three 274.5 to 266.3, with the Eskymos also assessed eight penalty points.

In Division 4, Manistique (659.14) prevailed over Iron Mountain (656.12) and Norway (614.08).

Kingsford and Norway compete Wednesday in the Gladstone Invitational. The Flivvers host the Kingsford Invitational on Monday, Jan. 28.
