IRON MOUNTAIN – Joyce H. Sikora, 90, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.
She was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Martinelli) Brentare.
Joyce graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1941 and was a lifelong resident of the Dickinson/Iron County area.
She married Leonard Sikora on May 7, 1940, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1997.
Joyce started her career at the U.P. Power Co. in Iron Mountain where she worked until moving to Stambaugh. While there, she did bookkeeping and helped run the family sheet metal business for several years.
For the last part of her career, she was employed at K-Mart as a clerk, retiring in 1984.
Joyce was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church and the Daughters of Isabella.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Detroit Tigers fan. Joyce was a loving and caring person and always had a considerate nature towards others.
Joyce is survived by three sons, Paul (Charlene) Sikora of Crystal Falls, Jon (Peggy) Sikora of Kalamazoo, and Edward (Lori) Sikora of Indianapolis; a brother, Donald Brentare of Milwaukee; six grandchildren, Stephen, David (Stacy), Joe, Andy (Krystle), Chuck and Jake Sikora; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was preceded in death by a sister, Rena Olson.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
