VA employees donate $35,759

IRON MOUNTAIN – The Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center has completed the 2012 Combined Federal Campaign, officials announced.

The Combined Federal Campaign is part of the United Way organization and helps fund many charities and not-for-profit organizations both locally and nationally.

All federal agencies across the nation participate in the Combined Federal Campaign each year.

This year, employees from the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain and its seven community based outpatient clinics donated $35,759, exceeding their 2012 goal of $32,000.

VA community based clinics are located in Sault Ste. Marie, Manistique, Marquette, Hancock, Ironwood, and Menominee in Michigan, and Rhinelander, Wis.

“I cannot think of anything more satisfying than giving to a charity, service organization, ministry, or cause that we may be passionate about and that positively impacts our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, Veterans, and community in general,” said Jim Rice, Medical Center Director.

The medical center’s total contribution represents 35 percent of the $103,403 raised by 31 federal work locations across the Upper Peninsula, and is the most of any work location.
