Prison, jail time for felony drug charges
IRON MOUNTAIN – Two women were sentenced Tuesday in Dickinson County Circuit Court for felony drug charges.
Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa Richards said that 31-year-old Amy Bergman of Gwinn was sentenced to serve a minimum of 18 months in prison.
Bergman had previously pleaded to counts of delivery of heroin and delivery of cocaine, both as a habitual offender-second. The maximum sentence for each charge is 30 years.
Richards also reported that 34-year-old Megan Gilbert of Iron Mountain was sentenced to serve 12 months in the Dickinson County Jail. Following her jail sentence, Gilbert must enter a 90-day residential treatment program and serve two years of probation, Richards added.
Gilbert had previously pleaded to a count of delivery of cocaine as a habitual offender-third. The maximum sentence for the charge is 40 years.
The women were arrested following an investigation by the Kingsford, Iron Mountain, Norway, Dickinson County (KIND) Drug Team in September 2012.
Assisting in the investigation were the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Kingsford Public Safety Department, and Iron Mountain Police Department.
