KINGSFORD – Clifford J. Peronto, 73, of Kingsford, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Aurora Bay Care Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.
He was born April 19, 1939, in Lansing, Mich., son of the late Clarence “Kelly” and Dorothy (Cory) Peronto. He was a resident of this area for most of his life and was a well-known musician.
Cliff started playing music at an early age and carried that passion throughout his lifetime. He played with many bands, including the Country Sunshine Band, the Country Caravan Band, and the Riley Road Band in 1992 when they won the Hodag Festival in Rhinelander.
Cliff was a member of the Freddy Hart Band, the Ferlin Husky Band, and the Dave Dudley Band. He went on several USO Tours around the world and played numerous local benefits and many special occasions.
Cliff married Karen Plourde on May 16, 1970, in Kingsford. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the NRA, the American Federation of Police, and the Sons of the American Legion. He loved guns, football, and NASCAR. He was a Jeff Gordon fan and an avid Lakers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; two stepsons, Mike Plourde (Jody Edberg) of Kingsford and Joe Plourde (Liz Dawson) of Kingsford; one daughter-in-law, Pam (Paul) Schott of Merrill, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Joe Plourde, Mitchell and Carlie Peronto, Kayla Schott, Karissa, Katelyn and Kacee Garrison, Cody and Dustin Rodman; four great-grandchildren, Kadynce, Zaedyn and Jadah Plourde, and Finlee Peronto. He is also survived by a special neighborhood family, Pete and Laura, and their children, Dominic, Dillon, and Jesse.
He was preceded in death by one son, Andre Peronto.
Burial will take place in the spring in the Spalding Township Cemetery.
