QUINNESEC – Gertrude H. Bray, 92, of Quinnesec, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Crystal Lake, Ill.
She was born March 13, 1920, in Nadeau, daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Charles) Paquette. Gertrude married Albert J. Bray in May 1937. He preceded her in death in July 2004.
Gertrude resided in Kingsford until 1956, at which time she moved to Chicago where she worked for Stewart Warner for many years and received a life-time gold pass for her achievements. In 1978, she moved to Quinnesec where she has been since.
She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Gertrude enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gertrude is survived by one son, Gerald “Mickey” (Marian) Bray of Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Sharon (Stanton) Serwitz and Patricia (Robert) Heinke, both of Crystal Lake, Ill.; one brother, Clayton (Mary) Poquette of Neenah, Wis.; one sister, Anna Polzwski of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, Steven Bray, Thomas Bray, Cindy Wendlandt, Robert Heinke, Perry Serwitz, Tammy Belizzi, Lisa Skwareti, and Daniel Serwitz; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Mary Poquette, Rita Mercier, Joyce Rochon, Dorothy Perket, Viola Bray, and Margie Pollock and four brothers, Elmer Poquette, Raymond Poquette, Harvey Poquette, and Edsiel Poquette.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
