IRON MOUNTAIN – Kathryn B. Polich, 94, of Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at the Iron River Care Center.
She was born on June 3, 1918, in Gaastra, the daughter of the late Neil and Florence (McDonald) Phillips.
Kathryn graduated from Iron River High School in 1936. She married John Polich on July 20, 1940, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. The family lived in Caspian prior to moving to Iron Mountain in 1960.
She was the office manager at Trico Opportunities, starting there when it first opened and working there during Trico’s formative years. She was an avid Green Bay Packers football fan. Kathryn also loved to travel and had visited many European countries, the British Isles, Australia, and New Zealand.
Kathryn is survived by and was dearly loved by three children, Rosalyn Ebert of Ortonville, Mich., Marion Janeshek of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Robert Polich of Iron Mountain; one brother, Terry (Marie) Phillips of Lake Wales, Fla.; one sister, Rachel Erns of Marysville, Mich.; brother-in-law, George Polich of Chicaugon Lake; four grandchildren, Christopher Ebert, Deanna (Greg) Beatty, Carrie (Tom) Long, and Randall Janeshek; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Ebert, Jillian Ebert, Morgan Beatty, Derek Beatty and Connor Long; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1997; her son, John (Jack) in 2008; and brothers, Hugh Phillips and Norman Phillips.
A memorial Mass will be scheduled at a later date.
Burial will be in the Stambaugh Cemetery.
