AURORA, Wis. – William F. Shwatal, 90, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, called at Northstar Healthcare System in Iron River.
William was born on April 18, 1922, in Chicago, son of the late William and Mary (Poturca) Shwatal.
He served two years in the U.S. Army 33rd division. William worked for many years as an auto mechanic.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. William was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a car enthusiast.
William is survived by three daughters, Judith (Dean) Gustafson of Iron Mountain, Linda (Ron) Tavonatti of Harvey, N.D. and Mary Shwatal of Iron Mountain; two sons, William Shwatal of Powers Lake, Wis. and Bruce Shwatal of Chicago; six grandchildren, Dawn (Scott) Farragh, Robert Doty Jr., Maegan Doty, Doug Plourde, Billy and Phillip; seven great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dolores Pouliot.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Colman.
