Wanda Hulce

IRON MOUNTAIN – Wanda Lou Hulce, 67, of Duncan, Ariz., went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, after a 14 year long courageous battle with cancer.

Wanda was born on March 16, 1945, the ninth of ten children born to the late Fred and Mae (Witz) Hulce. She grew up on a farm outside of Loretto and graduated from Vulcan High School in 1963.

Wanda had many talents including sewing, cake decorating, being a beautician, designing, decorating, baking, cooking, catering, and her all time favorite, semi-truck driving.

Wanda loved her family and was the loving mother to Anita (Keith) Lyman of Kingsford, April (Ken) Degenaer of Iron Mountain, Allen (Diana) Schuls of Oconto Falls, Wis., Angi (John) Mellon of Kingsford, and Brandi (Ryan, Sr.) Schomisch of Black Creek, Wis. She was known as “Nana” to 12 grandchildren, Kris (Crystal) Lyman, Miranda (Travis) Siewert, Justin (Courtnie) Degenaer, James Degenaer, Allie Lou Schuls, Caitlyn Testolin, Domenic Testolin, Nick (Tiff) Mellon, Jake Mellon, Maggi Mae Mellon, Shayleen Schomisch, and Ryan Schomisch Jr. The Lord blessed her with eight great-grandchildren, Owen and Landon Siewert, Jude and Jadyn Degenaer, Zoey and Shylah Haanpaa, and Bentley and Ashlyn Mellon.

She is further survived by sisters, June Hirte and Lois Ann Giuliani; brothers, Frank (Phyllis) Hulce, Lyle (Gloria) Hulce, and Wayne (Mary) Hulce; sisters-in-law, Nancy Hulce, Lois Hulce, and Pat (Bud) Sydmark; brother-in-law, John King; a very special mother-in-law, Catherine “Kate” Lesandrini; very special friends, Vicki and Ford Waterman, and Cyn and Mike Meyers; and many nieces and nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice (Nick) Simonetti and Pauline King; brothers, Dave Hulce and Ron Hulce; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Hire and Ernie Giuliani.

A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at First Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway.

Services will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at the church, with a dinner immediately following in the church hall. Rev. Andrew Filizetti will officiate.
